The 3-Week Arc

While the conversations differ by age group, the route remains the same. A carefully sequenced progression from disruption to integration.

Week 1:

  • Day 1: Launch. Depart LA, camp near Yosemite. Evening circle: "Why are you here?"
  • Day 2: The Challenge. Hiking Half Dome (or equivalent). Group pacing and shared effort.
  • Day 3: Follow-Through. Recovery movement and personal reflection.
  • Day 4: Vision. Travel to Central Coast. Stop at Hearst Castle to discuss vision and discipline.
  • Day 5: Options. Visit a college campus (low pressure) then beach camping at Oceano Dunes.
  • Day 6-7: Humility. Surf lessons in San Diego. Theme: Repetition, failure, and perseverance.

Week 2:

  • Location: Baja California (7 Days).
  • The Routine:
    • Morning: Orphanage service projects (painting, building).
    • Afternoon: Surf/ocean time as earned release.
    • Evening: Reflections on gratitude and responsibility.
  • Key Shift: Perspective deepens, entitlement softens.
A tall, multi-armed Saguaro cactus stands centered in a desert landscape. In the background, a blue body of water is visible beyond rolling brown hills under a clear, pale blue sky.

Week 3:

  • Days 15-17 (Sedona): Structure & Stillness. Writing the 90-day plan.
  • Days 18-20 (Zion): "The Final Test." Serious hikes and campfire councils to finalize commitments.
  • Day 21 (Los Angeles): The return. Family dinner and "Handoff" meeting.
A wide-angle view of a deep canyon with towering, reddish-orange rock faces. A winding river and a small road snake through the valley floor, which is dotted with green trees and dry brush.
Four young people sit on the ground around a small, smoking campfire in a sunlit forest. They are laughing and talking, with a lake visible through the trees in the background.
